Antara is a non-profit psychiatric facility in Kolkata, India, born with the assistance and blessings of Mother Teresa, dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poor and destitute afflicted with mental illness and addiction.

Hundreds of patients are treated at Antara at concessional rates or free of charge every year. Antara has been working in this field of over forty years. They do not receive government or regular funding support – funds come in the form of donations, sponsorship and endowments from socially conscious and caring individuals and corporate houses all over the world. Antara cordially invites you to become a friend of Antara.

Today, Antara has involved as many individuals in its’ growth and development as possible. These individuals, spread across the globe are known as the ‘Friends of Antara’.  Friends of Antara provide financial, technical, social and moral support.

A new chapter in the history of Antara was launched on 02 February 2016 with the formation of ‘Friends of Antara Australia and New Zealand’. Mr Thomas John, CEO of Antara, launched this chapter along with Mrs Marina Costigan and Dr Saibal Guha.
